Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
This policy covers the DataWise SEO Chrome extension only, version 1.0.0 and later. The DataWise web app at datawiseseo.com is a separate product with separate data handling, covered by our main Privacy Policy.
The extension is published by AI Ranking SpA, a company registered in Chile, represented by Nicolas Gorrono. Questions: [email protected].
1. Information We Collect
None. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, browsing history, page content, audit results, or device information. It runs no analytics and no telemetry. There is no DataWise account, no sign-in, and no DataWise server involved in any part of the extension.
2. How the Extension Works
The extension runs entirely inside your browser. When you click the toolbar icon, open the side panel, or use the right-click menu, it reads the page you are currently viewing (the DOM: tags, headings, links, images, and JSON-LD structured data) and renders an SEO audit in Chrome's side panel. Audit results stay on your device and are discarded when you close the panel.
The panel re-runs its audit when you switch tabs or when the current page navigates, so what you see always matches the page in front of you.
3. Local Storage
The extension stores the following in chrome.storage.local on your device only. None of it leaves your
browser, and none of it is synced across devices:
- Your selected theme (light or dark).
- The last tab you had open inside the extension panel.
- Optionally, a PageSpeed Insights API key you paste into Settings.
You can clear all of it at any time by removing the extension, or from chrome://extensions under
DataWise SEO.
4. Network Requests
The extension makes exactly one kind of outbound network call: Google's PageSpeed Insights v5 API at
https://www.googleapis.com/pagespeedonline/v5/runPagespeed, and only when you click "Run Lighthouse"
in the Perf tab.
That request sends the URL you asked us to audit to Google, along with your PageSpeed Insights API key if you supplied one. It is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not proxy, log, or store that request or its response.
No other network request is made. The extension loads no remote code: all JavaScript, CSS, and fonts are packaged inside the bundle.
5. Permissions and Why We Need Them
activeTabandscripting. Read the current page so we can audit it.storage. Save your settings on your device.contextMenus. Add the "Audit this page" right-click entry.sidePanel. Render the audit in Chrome's side panel when you ask for it.- Host permission
<all_urls>. The panel re-audits when you switch tabs or a page navigates, which happens without a fresh click, soactiveTabalone is not enough. An SEO auditor has to be able to read whichever site you are auditing. Nothing it reads leaves your device.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell or transfer any user data to third parties. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose. We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
7. Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
